5.0 out of 5 stars We survived a rollover accident with this seat., December 29, 2009
We survived a Highway rollover accident this summer with our 5 year old in this seat.

You never think it will happen to you.

And Suddenly in an explosion of violence it is happening.

Several of the emergency personnel independently commented on the Lifesaving aspect of his seat.

They also emphasized the word "Booster" should be completely eliminated from Marketing materials for Children car seats.

A Five point harness is the best way to keep a child stabilized in the physical violence of an accident.

The "booster"s essentially cut children in half internally.

Tell all of your friends.

We survived.

And we will never use anything but a five point harness.

There are models up to 65lbs and then you can switch to another product that goes up to 80lbs.

This seat saved his life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for city dwelling parents!, February 11, 2010
By
scanpennett (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
I LOVE THIS!!! We live in downtown Chicago and do not own a car. We usually use public transportation but, occasionally it's easier to take a cab (e.g. when going to the airport with all the luggage). I have looked EVERYWHERE for a "portable" car seat. Sunshine kids was just too heavy and did not fold small enough and our Safety 1st Tote n' Go (a backboard with a 5 point harness) was difficult to install, our son sat on an angle even when installed properly and overall it did not seem safe. I was a bit skeptical about this product - it was a bit pricey for something we will probably only use once a month or so but, my son's safety is priceless. I read the all the reviews I could find and called Safety 1st for more information on installation. I was sold when a NYC woman wrote about installing the seat in less than 90 seconds in cabs; time is precious when you are getting in and out of cabs and horns are honking at you.

The bag is fairly large (think bowling bag) but,... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Description lacking, January 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
We purchased this product to travel with as it is light and comes with a travel bag. Unfortunately, for the child seat to work it must be attached to a hook behind the car's seat which not all cars come equipped with, especially cabs in foreign countries. If the car does not have the required hook, the seat is useless as a 5 pnt. restraint booster.

Amazon.com Product Description

Airplane travel with a toddler can be a challenge, but with the Go-Go Kidz TravelMate, navigating the airport becomes a piece of cake. The TravelMate is a car seat attachment that allows it to be wheeled with ease through the airport, with your child safely belted in. So, rather than carrying your child on one arm and a bulky car seat on the other, you can breeze through the airport with less hassle. It is designed for use with most convertible or toddler car seats, for babies and children up to 50 pounds.

The Go Go Kidz TravelMate offers:
  • Easy car seat attachment makes traveling with toddlers easy
  • Lightweight, compact design won't cramp your travel style
  • Compatible with most widely available convertible or toddler car seats

The Go-Go Kidz TravelMate is compatible with a variety of convertible/toddler car seats.
How It Works
The Go-Go Kidz TravelMate quickly and easily attaches to most convertible or toddler car seats. It has 5-inch wheels and a telescopic handle for easily wheeling your child in his or her car seat. Since the FAA strongly recommends that children under 40 pounds use a car seat for air travel, the TravelMate saves you the hassle of hauling your car seat -- and your active toddler, plus all your gear -- through the airport. The TravelMate's wheels detach easily for passing through airport security X-ray machines. The handle features four-position adjustability, ranging from 28 inches to 50-1/2 inches for maximum versatility. And at only five pounds, the TravelMate won't bog you down if you're trying to travel light. In fact, it makes a compact package: it folds flat for easy storage, measuring just 28 x 17 x 5 inches (H x L x W) when closed and 50-1/2 x 17 x 5 inches (H x L x W) when open.

Safe and Secure
You can rest assured that your child will be safe and comfortable while you whiz through the airport with your TravelMate. Its wide, rubber wheels provide a stable, smooth ride, and it is designed for compatibility with most widely available car seat models.

Award-Winning Innovation
The Go-Go Kidz TravelMate has received many awards, including the 2006 JPMA Innovation Award; the iParenting Media Award for Greatest Products of 2006; the Best Product of the Year for 2006 from Fit Pregnancy; and the Preemie Cool Stuff Award.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't unscrew it at security, January 24, 2008
This review is from: Go-Go Babyz Kidz Travelmate (Baby Product)
Most the negative reviews I see are due to people complaining that it doesn't fit through the security xray machines. Do some research before you travel, here is the link to the TSA website that says you can ask for a hand check:
    [...]
I have traveled over 20 times with my GoGo Kidz and never taken the wheels off. I did print out and highlight the web page that says you can hand check in case somene wants to fight me over it though.
This is a lifesaver for people who fly with carseats!

EDIT 11/29/09: The product description now mentions a strap that sounds like it might solve the attachment/detachment problem. I haven't seen the strap in action, but check more recent reviews to see if it's working well.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I really love the idea of this gadget. We've used on several plane trips, and it's definitely easier and more practical than bringing the carseat AND a stroller. Many people have stopped us in the airport to check it out, and our son loves riding around in it. It has great polyurethane wheels that roll over just about anything with ease, and the telescoping handle can be made long enough for the tallest parent. It's light, easy to steer, and streamlined. Our Britax Marathon fits on it beautifully and attaches securely.

However, it needs a couple of major improvements to make it worth the effort and the price. First of all, there simply MUST be a way to attach and detach the device to/from the carseat more quickly... Read more

    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Go-Go Babyz Kidz Travelmate (Baby Product)
I have the newest version of the gogokidz travelmate, and it now has a quick release strap along with quick release wheels. So, there are NO screws to deal with (except when you first set it up - but those screws become a permanent attachment on the product).
The handle also goes from very short to VERY long - nobody should have a problem getting the handle to a comfortable position. The handle also locks into place at all levels, so the handle does NOT slip out when you don't want it to.
The company did a great job of listening to customers and making improvements. Great buy and very easy to use.
The easiest thing is to have security check it with a wand, BUT if you need/want to put your carseat on the security belt, you can easily detach the wheels and/or just undo the quick release strap and take the carseat off of the gogokidz altogether.
This will fit down most airplane aisles, BUT some car seats are too big, so you may have to carry the car seat -... Read more

This review is from: Safety 1st Vantage High Back Booster Car Seat, Nitron (Baby Product)
I had purchased two of these units from WalMart and had found a serious problem. Both units fail after adjusting the harness adjustment strap (pg. 8 of instruction book). The failure is this, after an adjustment is made, the harness release lever fails to cinch down tight enough on the harness adjustment strap to prevent slippage of the strap. I have made adjustments then placed my arm in the harness and pulled the harness adjustment strap loose enough to cause serious compromise to occupant safety. I have repeated this several times on both seats. Since contacting Consumers Reports, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dorel Juvenile Group (manufacturer of the seats) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Dorel Juvenile Group agreed to send me two more seats in exchange for the defective seats. I received the two replacement seats February 1, 2010. Upon inspection, I immediately noticed one of the two seats exhibits the same failure as the original... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars we like it, February 9, 2009
    By
Mama of Aidan (Pittsburgh, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Safety 1st Vantage High Back Booster Car Seat, Nitron (Baby Product)
I liked this because it can be used for a long time. My son is just over 3, but he still needs a 5 point harness, and I wanted him to be able to use it after he's 4 too. He really likes it because he feel like its a big boy seat. I like the color.
The only downside is that the straps get a little tangled sometimes, but that's easy to fix. It's also a little difficult to get the release button down--my son can't do it himself (maybe that's a good thing!)and it takes me two hands sometimes. Our Britax car seat didn't have those problems, but for the price this is great.

We got this seat after reading it was rated number two in Consumer Reports. It's great! Exactly what my daughter, who is small for her age, needs. We think she might be in it a long time since she might not hit the 40 lb. requirement for Ohio until she's 14. But she likes it; we like it. And it comes in a great range of colors, although she was hoping for pink... Good value for the price and safe to boot!
